On the Sunday 1st of April 2012, East Coast Taekwondo took part in the 7th British Midlands Taekwondo Open event which consisted of patterns, sparring and power breaking. With a group of 21 competitors we managed to win an incredible 31 trophies! Our lads and ladies did us proud as they battled against competitors from various areas in England, Wales and Scotland. After their outstanding display of Taekwondo all the competitors deserved to let their hair down so the next day we had a memorable day in Alton Towers. With all persons chilling out on our ferry on the way back to Dublin and Wicklow each recalling and chatting about the weekend that was. Again another truly great weekend!

Chris Mc Cabe

East Coast Taekwondo held a grading last month. All students performed excellent showing great technique and determination to which all passed with exceptional results. Mr. McCabe was pleased with the standard of each student in particular in their knowledge of the fundamental Taekwondo movements and their power in the destruction techniques.

A big thank you to all junior and senior black belts who assisted on the night to prepare the area and help the coloured belts shake off their nerves!

Dear Masters, Instructors and Students

Due to unforeseen circumstances with the published venue, East Coast's Open Championships on Sunday 4th March 2012 will now be held in the community centre, Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow.

We apologize for any inconvenience the change in venue may cause and look forward to seeing as many competitors as possible on Sunday.

The first allocation of black belts that the Newtown school produced graded in December 1990, those students were myself (Chris McCabe) and John Eagers who was a junior at that time. Mr. Mick Whelan came along in 1988 to introduce his son James to Tae Kwon Do and decided to join up himself.

Happy new year to everyone involved in East Coast, may we work together and continue to prosper in 2012!

Congratulations to all members of East Coast Tae Kwon Do who travelled to Ennis last weekend to compete in the Banner Martial Arts Open. This newly added event will be a permanent fixture for East Coast and we look forward to seeing all at Banner Martial Arts next year. Many thanks to Mr. Connor Donovan and Mrs. Sarah Donovan for inviting East Coast to this well run and fair event.
